Look beyond the intensity of one painful day
Endometriosis can cause period pain, ongoing pelvic pain or symptoms during sex, bowel movements or urination. Timing and the effect on daily activities can help guide evaluation.
What a scan can show
Imaging can help identify some forms of endometriosis and other causes of pelvic symptoms. A normal scan can occur in someone with endometriosis. A clinician may advise review or referral based on symptoms.
Management depends on your priorities
Pain relief, hormonal care and surgery may be discussed. If you are planning a pregnancy, share this because it can change the options.
Plan follow-up
Bring a short symptom diary and note what you have already tried. Ask when to return if symptoms continue and which changes warrant earlier review.
